Peteco Carabajal participó como invitado especial de un evento internacional desarrollado en la histórica Casa de las Américas de La Habana, Cuba, conmemorando el trágico 24 de marzo de 1976.
Organizado por las Embajadas de El Salvador y Argentina, el pasado 24 de marzo se llevó a cabo la Primera Jornada "Por la memoria, la verdad y la justicia" en la Sala Che Guevara de Casa de las Américas en La Habana, Cuba.
El acto conmemoró el inicio de la sangrienta dictadura que enlutó a la Argentina a partir de 1976, y también el asesinato, ese mismo día pero de 1980, en Buenos Aires, del arzobispo salvadoreño Monseñor Oscar Arnulfo Romero, figura emblemática de la iglesia tercermundista.
Con la presencia de delegaciones de las Embajadas de las hermanas repúblicas de Uruguay y Nicaragua, e instituciones cubanas como la Federación de Mujeres Cubanas, el Memorial Salvador Allende y el Centro Cultural Pablo de la Torriente Brau, la jornada consistió en talleres y debates con diplomáticos y testigos directos de situaciones represivas generadas por el terrorismo de estado, y un cierre musical a cargo de Peteco Carabajal y artistas cubanos.
